In
order
to
preserve
the
doll,
most
composition
has
been
sealed as
carefully
as
possible.
As
with
any
item
of
age
and
because
of
the
nature
of
the
composition
media,
it
cannot
be
predicted when
and/or
if
the
composition
and/or
paint will
start
to
peal,
crack,
chip,
bubble
or
flake
but
sealing
them
does
seem
to
help
keep
their
beauty
longer.
Paint
touch
ups
are
always
left
at a
minimum.
Severely
damaged
paint
and
composition
is
restored.
(usually
the
side
seams
of
the
neck,
eye
bubbles,
major
visible
cracks
and
missing
fingers)
Please
be
mindful
that
these
dolls
were
made
at a
time
when
lead,
which
is
toxic
to
humans, was
used
in
paint.
All
doll
bodies
and
wigs
have
been
cleaned
and
mended
whenever
possible
or
necessary.
Replaced
with
similar
material
when
needed.
All
original
doll clothing
has
been
laundered,
pressed
and
mended,
reconstructed
when
possible
and
necessary.
Sometimes,
this
requires
taking
the
entire
outfit
apart,
laundering
and
sewing
it
back
together.
Original
clothing
may
have
fading,
pinholes,
pulls,
rubs,
holes,
age
spots,
stains,
and
anything
else
you
can
think
of.
Many
times,
the
original
lace
has
disintegrated
and
has
been
replaced.
Dolls
are
usually
fully
dressed
~
pantaloons
&
shoes.
I
usually
add
an
accessory
or
two
such
a
handbag/purse,
handkerchief,
button
choker
necklace
or
flower
bouquet,
etc.
The
final
finishing
touch!
